Director. Cinematographer.

Although, DeShawn is still young he has experienced a lot. He entered into adulthood living overseas, but his love for film brought him back to his home. He shares a passion for story telling in any shape or form, photography and writing have been those that have paved the way for him. He is always looking for a story to tell and someone to help tell that story with him.

“My approach to filmmaking is different from others. A lot of people care about getting the best shots or having the sharpest image, but I am the opposite. I care about story telling and detail. I chase the story in every project I take on. I would say my style as a filmmaker is a lot more filmic than most. I do my best to emulate the feeling of what shooting on actual 16mm or 35mm film feels like. I think the grittiness of actual film in this digital world feel more incapsulating. If I could shoot on film I honestly would.”

“Filmmaking is a collaborative art form. Find people who you enjoy working with, because it makes it much easier… Find collaborators that can bring out the best in you and be honest with you, but that you also like working with.”
